Serving on a number of volunteer committees. Martinez has received numerous achievement awards for his academic performance and leadership skills, including a Letter of Great Achievement from the U.S. House of Representatives. Recently, he won The Louvenia Johnson Scholarship sponsored by The Milwaukee Times. In 2012, he developed an interest in photography and journalism. In 2013 he reinstated his High School newspaper and became the school’s "official photographer." Milton began taking photos for the publication, and soon individuals, including his school's Alumni Association, started showing interest in his work. Therefore in 2014, Martinez founded his small business: Marti Milton Creations. Milton says "As I gained experience and passion for photography, I decided I should create a business dedicated to my art.” Later that year, he was featured in Milwaukee's very own Fellas
Health magazine for this accomplishment.
Martinez joined the MKE Fellows in December of 2016. This summer he works as a Marketing & Media Intern at ALIVE, Inc., a non-profit organization overseen by John Daniels, III. In the fall Martinez will be returning to UW-Whitewater to complete his sophomore year of college majoring in Communications & Business. Also, he says that he values the hard work and dedication of his family, friends & support group. Martinez says that one motto he lives by that makes him eager to conquer the next day is….
“You are the only one that can change your future; if you claim ownership over your life and the direction you want it to go; then who can stop you?”
-Martinez Milton, Jr.
